Long Silence, But We're Still Doing Good

Hello All
Since we came back from Singapore, I've been feeling guilty about not posting something while we were overseas, then I felt guilty for not posting something as soon as we came back and that made me stay away from posting for even longer. But finally, here I am, sitting at my computer at 2pm in the afternoon on a Thursday, making a comeback on the blog before taking on the task of vacuuming the house. Roshan is en route to Houston in a fully loaded car with his cousin Lasantha aiya and his family. They left this morning, with great plans to go via Krispy Kreme for doughnuts on the way and so I have the house to myself with Kolla for company. But this evening, ammi arrives and I am counting the hours till then. As I type, Kolla is dozing in his bed in the laundry, occasionally making trips to the office room to make sure I'm still around, and the other kolla, the one bouncing around in my bundi, seems to be wide awake and exploring the confines of his tiny home.
The Singapore/Sri Lanka trip was wonderful. It was just what the doctor ordered for Roshan and I - not having to do any housework for 2 weeks, eating one delicious, healthy meal after another that I didn't have to cook, Roshan playing squash & tennis, working out at the gym and swimming to his heart's content, having quality time with ammi, thaththi and malli in Singapore and then Roshan's ammi and thaththi, our achchis and our extended families in Sri Lanka. I ate a lot of delicious yoghurt in Singapore which I miss sorely since moving to Dallas (there is no, I repeat, no good yoghurt to be bought in the Dallas metroplex - the only sort of ok yoghurt available here being Wallaby, Australian Style Yoghurt, which still doesn't compare to the yummy, yummy, yummy yoghurts available in Australia and Singapore) and we also ate lots of fresh mangoes and papaya. Peanut got a good daily dose of red and yellow fruit and I'm sure he misses it like I do now. There are two mangoes in the kitchen waiting to be peeled and consumed, but they will be such a disappointment after the perfect sweetness of the mangoes we had in Singapore. Apparently what I eat and drink can influence Peanut's likes and dislikes in the future, so I am sure to have a little boy who loves his Milo! The travelling part of the trip to Singapore and Sri Lanka wasn't too bad, except for the fact that my travelling companion was a sleepfreak and the only person I know who can sleep 5 hours straight squeezed into an economy class seat. I did get a few backrubs along the way though, so I can't complain too much. Peanut was very well behaved and other than a little lack of movement in Singapore (maybe he was jetlagged too?) which necessitated a quick trip to the doctor to make sure everything was ok, he seemed to be fine with all the plane hopping.
Since we've been back, it's been a rollercoaster of activities. We had a paediatric life support class, I rushed around trying to get our Christmas shopping done, we had to finish writing our Christmas cards and get them out to friends and family around the world, I had to get my glucose test done, we got a house full of guests within a week of getting back, Roshan had to go to New York for a day and now we're getting ready for Christmas. Though busy, I think this is what Christmas should feel like - bustling, busy and festive. The glucose test came back normal and so Peanut seems to be continuing his good behaviour and I'm due for my next ultrasound in January. I feel his movements a lot more now and each time I feel a tiny foot or hand pressing against my bundi, it gives me an indescribable sense of joy. This Christmas will be made especially special by the knowledge that next time around, this little guy bouncing around in my bundi will be a part of the celebrations.
I'll stop here for the moment and post again in a day or two when I will also include some pictures from our Singapore and Sri Lanka trip. Ammi just called from LA and I need to get vacuuming!
